Ralph A. Russo, 102, of New Castle passed away the morning of April 2, 2020 at Rhodes Estates. Born on July 10, 1917 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Nicola and Christina Cenname Russo. Ralph is survived by his beloved wife of seventy-five years, the former Marietta P. Strizzi. They were married March 22, 1945.
Ralph had served his country as a member of the United States Army. He was part of D-Day and was the second wave that invaded Omaha Beach at Normandy. Ralph was awarded many medals including the Purple Heart and the French Legion Medal of Honor. Ralph had worked for Mesta Machine as a brick mason and later as a supervisor. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Camillus Site.
Ralph enjoyed hunting and taking trips out West. Over the years, he loved attending many of the Neshannock football games. Ralph always took great pride in cutting and maintaining his lawn. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Ralph’s greatest joy was the pride and admiration he had for his family.
In addition to his wife, Ralph is survived by his daughter, Judy (Tim) Doutt of Norton, Ohio, his sister, Genevieve (Vince) DeStefano of New Castle, his daughter-in-law, Mary Beth, five grandchildren, Craig and wife, Megan, Graham and wife, Lindsey, Scott and wife, Roseann, Nina and husband, Shawn, Bryan and wife, Kristen, ten great-grandchildren, Grant, Lucas, Spencer, Frankie, Maree, Torri, Natalie, Nathan, Ralph and Christopher.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his son, Ronald, three brothers, Andy, Ameilio and Nick Russo and two infant sisters.
There is no visitation. A private service will be held for the family. Burial will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
