Patricia Marie “Patty” Flamino, 72, of Neshannock Township passed away the morning of October 23, 2020 at UPMC Passavant -McCandless. Born September 10, 1948 in Trenton, New Jersey, she was the daughter of Clarence and Mary (Janovick) Shields. Patty was preceded in death on September 23, 1982 by her husband, Gary W. Flamino.
A 1966 graduate of Union High School, she went on to pursue a double master’s degree with Penn State University and Case Western in Psychiatric Nursing and Gerontology. Her education led her to head nurse at St. Francis Hospital and employment with Jameson Hospital. Later, she was a part time teacher at Youngstown State University for psychiatric nursing. Patty was the director of an adult daycare and retired as the Director of Nursing Management at Visiting Nurses.
Among her many interests, she enjoyed collecting antiques, gardening, crafting and road trips. She had a love for pets, especially horses and her dog, Ryder. Most important to her was time spent with family. She will always be known for her love of helping others. Patty was a member of the Ohio Nurses Association and of St. Mary’s Church.
She is survived by one son, Gary (Melissa) Flamino and a daughter, Andrea Flamino, all of New Castle; one brother, Patrick “Butch” (Lori) Shields of Nevada; and two grandchildren, Gary Flamino and Maliyah Flamino of New Castle.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Public visitation will be held on Thursday, October 29, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A private Blessing Service officiated by Deacon Dan Kielar of Holy Spirit Parish will take place for the family immediately following visitation at 6:00 p.m. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Mausoleum.
