Norma Lee Herno, 83, of Neshannock Township, passed away the afternoon of February 12, 2021 at UPMC Presbyterian. Norma was born on April 22, 1937, a daughter of the late Herman H. and Virginia Mae (Shook) Monteith in Bushnell, North Carolina. She married Joseph M. Herno on April 9, 1955 in Sylva, NC. He preceded her in death on December 20, 1976.
Norma resided in New Castle for 65 years and was a member of Holy Spirit Parish. She was an avid gardener and traveler in her later years. She retired from Rockwell Corporation as a lathe operator. She enjoyed being with her family.
Her loving family includes daughter, Cathy (Rick) Rhodes; son, Michael (Barb) Herno; sister, Annette (James) Farmer; brother, Larry Monteith; sisters-in-law, Oleda Monteith and Mattie Monteith; grandchildren: Amy Rhodes and Robert (Nicole) Rhodes; and great-grandchildren: Claire and Ryland Rhodes.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by children, John Francis and Marie Elana; brothers, Oliver, Kenneth, Reid, Joe, Avery; and sister, Maxine Monteith.
A Private Blessing Service will be held at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road. Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Lord God, you are attentive to the voice of our pleading. Give Norma eternal rest, O Lord, and may your light shine on her forever. Let us find in your Son comfort in our sadness, certainty in our doubt, and courage to live through this hour. Make our faith strong through Christ our Lord. Amen.
