Mary I. Scully, 97, of New Castle passed away the evening of May 29, 2020 at Avalon Place. Born on September 8, 1922 in New Castle she was the daughter of the late William and Louise DePasquale Caparoula. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, William Scully, Sr. in 1961.
Mary had worked as a cashier for many years for the Tamarkin Company and Lob Laws grocery store until she retired.
Mary was a life time member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Site. She was a member of the Ladies of the Dukes. Mary enjoyed going to Bingo.
Mary is survived by two brothers, James and Robert Caparoula, three sisters, Sylvia Peabody, Nora Robinson and Gilda Jackson, five grandchildren, William H. Scully, III (Lisa), Kristen Scully, John R. Scully, II, Rose Angela Scully Billow (Howard), and Christopher A. Scully, nine great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her two sons, William Scully Jr., and John Scully, two brothers, John and Richard Caparoula, and four sisters, Phyllis Yeropoli, Theresa Suzow, Julia Schofield, and Adeline Scully.
A private visitation and Blessing Service will be held for the family at the Ed & Don Decarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 South Mill St.
Deacon Matthew Hawkins of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.
