Louis M. Ross, 94, of Neshannock Township passed away the afternoon of Sept. 14, 2020, at UPMC Jameson Hospital. Born in New Castle on Feb. 2, 1926, Lou was the son of the late Louis A. and Anna M. Zingaro Ross. On Oct. 14, 1950, Lou married his beloved wife, the former Angela M. Audino, and she survives.
Lou had worked as a case worker for the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare for 20 years, before he retired. After retirement, Lou worked as a screener at the Lawrence County Courthouse. Lou served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II, 1944 to 1946. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Camillus site.
Lou enjoyed the outdoors going golfing and working in his garden. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, Lou's greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Lou is survived by his children, Louis M. Ross Jr. (Rhonda) of Kansas City, Missouri, and Lon Michael Ross (Jaime) and Alyson Joseph (Larry), all of New Castle; his brother, Marion Russo of St. Louis, Missouri; his sister, Virginia Russo of Las Angeles, California; five grandchildren, Courtney (David) Thompson, Larry (Summer) Joseph, Jacci (Pat) Hertel, Angela Ross and Jeanna Ross, five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to his parents, Lou was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Ross.
A visitation for the family was held at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St., with military honors by the New Castle Area Honor Guard. A Mass of Christian burial was held at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus. Father Brendan Dawson officiated. Burial was at Parkside Cemetery. Lord God, you are attentive to the voice of our pleading. Give Lou eternal rest, O Lord, and may your light shine on him forever. Let us find in your Son comfort in our sadness, certainty in our doubt, and courage to live through this hour. Make our faith strong through Christ our Lord. Amen.
