Beginning this weekend, we have added a 7:00 am Mass at St. Vitus on Sundays. The Mass schedule is: on Saturday, 4:00 pm Mass at St. Camillus and at St. Vitus. On Sunday, 7:00 am Mass at St. Vitus, 8:00 am Mass at St. Camillus, 9:00 am Mass at St. Vitus, and 11:00 am Mass at St. Camillus.
As you know, St. Mary’s is temporarily closed due to necessary renovations to the windows on the west side of the building. This expensive, but necessary, reconstruction is to preserve the stained glass windows. We hope to be back in St. Mary’s by the end of July when we have some weddings scheduled.
As announced before, St. Mary’s will be closed again when the windows are reinstalled. The 8:00 am Mass that was at St. Mary’s is now at St. Camillus. The reason all of our weekend Masses are at St. Camillus and St. Vitus is due to financial constraints and personnel constraints. It is not possible for us to maintain a Mass schedule that involves more places and more times. Thank you for your support and understanding. Six Masses on the weekend should be sufficient to provide everyone with an opportunity to receive our Lord in the Holy Eucharist. Thank you again to all of our volunteers and who assist in liturgies on a regular basis. Your service to God is deeply appreciated.
Also this week, we have Vacation Bible School. This is a fun time for our children, parents and volunteers. Our Holy Spirit Parish Vacation Bible School 2021, Set Sail with the Holy Trinity and St. Patrick, is June 28th to June 30th for 3 fun-filled days of faith lessons, crafts, games and music from 9:00 am—12:30 pm for age 4 through grade 5. Check-in is 8:30—8:45 am in the Castle lobby (Holy Spirit Academy School front entrance). Snacks are being provided. I am very grateful to our catechetical staff and all who work so hard to make this special time available to our children.
On July 1st, our new parochial vicar, Fr. Benjamin Barr, begins his assignment. Fr. Barr grew up in Chippewa, PA, a middle child with a brother and a sister. You can read his complete biography on page 13 of today’s bulletin. There is an interesting paragraph about what he likes to do when he has spare time. When you have an opportunity to meet Fr. Barr, please give him a very warm Holy Spirit Parish welcome.
