Julie Penny, 58, of New Wilmington, Pa. passed away the morning of November 24, 2020 at her residence after her courageous eight-year battle with cancer. Julie was born August 20, 1962 in New Castle, the daughter of, Mary Lou Flamino Melder, who preceded her in death, and Robert F. Melder, Sr. who survives in New Castle. On December 23, 1989, Julie married her beloved husband, Steve Penny who survives at home.
Julie was a 1980 graduate of Neshannock High School. She worked in the office of Dr. Paul Wawrzynski. She was a lifetime member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Camillus Site and was the first baby girl to be baptized in St. Camillus Church. Julie was always very attached to and enjoyed the company of her pets. A loving wife, sister and aunt, Julie was very involved in all of her niece and nephews lives as they were growing up.
In addition to her husband, Julie is survived by her two brothers, Robert Melder, Jr. (Faunda) of New Castle, Trevor Melder of West Monroe, LA, her two sisters, Lisa Barge (Jim) of New Castle, Jaime Moran (Rick) of Linesville, PA, her niece, Andrea Wagner (Dennis), three nephews, Matthew Barge, Maxwell Melder, Grant Melder and one great-nephew Leyton Wagner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Camillus Church. Father Anthony Sciarappa will officiate. Anyone attending the Mass on Friday will be required to adhere to CDC guidelines regarding the wearing of face masks and practicing social distancing. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road.
Lord God, you are attentive to the voice of our pleading. Give Julie eternal rest, O Lord, and may your light shine on her forever. Let us find in your Son comfort in our sadness, certainty in our doubt, and courage to live through this hour. Make our faith strong through Christ our Lord. Amen.
