Jennie Zarella

January 14, 1926 to September 3, 2019

Jennie Zarella, 93, of New Castle passed way the morning of September 3, 2019 at the Avalon Place. Born in Beaver Falls, PA on January 14, 1926, Jennie was the daughter of the late Anthony and Stella Bavolski Podbielski.

Preceding her in death is her husband, Peter A. (Paddy) Zarella whom she married on January 28, 1945. Jennie was a member of the Holy Spirit Parish. She enjoyed playing bingo and loved to cook. Jennie was known for always helping others in need.

She is survived by her companion, James L. Davies, Sr. of New Castle, a son, James Davies, Jr., her brothers, Vince Podbielski and Leonard Podbielski and her sister, Sister Elma Podbielski.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jennie is preceded in death by her brothers, Ted Podbielski, Edward Podbielski, Merle Podbielski, Zigmond Podbielski, John Podbielski, Stanley Podbielski and a sister, Virginia Kubel.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4pm to 6pm at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home on Friday morning at 9:30am for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10am at the Holy Spirit Parish – St. Mary’s Site officiated by Rev. Father Brendan Dawson. Entombment will take place at the Resurrection Mausoleum.
