James E. Cardella Jr., 52, of 217 E. Cherry St., New Castle, (Mahoningtown), passed away the evening of Oct. 9, 2019, at his residence. James was born on Sept. 12, 1967, in New Castle. He was a son of the late Alice J. Fleeger Cardella; she preceded him in death on July 20, 2011. His father, James E. Cardella Sr., survives at home.
James was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1986. He was Catholic and attended Holy Spirit Parish, St. Lucy's site. James was self-employed and operated a seal-coat business for many years. He also was a laborer contractor with the Local Teamster 261 Union. James had a love for the outdoors. He was a lifetime member of the Mahoning Sportsman's Club. James loved to go fishing and hunting, especially up the mountains with his family and friends. He also enjoyed going to the club's gun range and shoot his rifles and pistols.
Survivors include his father, James Sr.; his half-brother, Frank P. (Francine) Nunley of New Castle; his niece, Nikki T. Moore of New Castle; two great-nieces, Aubrey and Addison; and many loving aunts and uncles. James was preceded in death by his mother, Alice; brother, Michael A. Cardella; paternal grandparents, Frank and Mary Cardella; and maternal grandparents, Paul and Victoria Fleeger.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019, at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S. Mill St., New Castle. A Blessing service will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Sunday following visitation at the funeral home. Deacon Dan Kielar will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Lucy Cemetery.
