Ennio Strizzi, 90, of New Castle passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2020, at his son's home in Charlotte, North Carolina, from the end of his battle with congestive heart failure. He was born in 1930 to Gabriele and Adelaide Strizzi, from Roccaraso, Italy. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy (DeSalvo), whom he met while visiting his uncle in the United States in 1956. They shared many happy years of marriage together until her sudden passing in 1992.
Ennio learned to speak English and he became a proud United States citizen in 1957. He worked for more than three decades with Mesta Machine Company as a crane lift operator above the molten steel at the mill.
He is the cherished father to two sons, Gabriel (Barb), and Patrick (Kathleen); a daughter, Lori (Phillip) Muchlada; three grandsons, Kristopher (Tiffany), Adam and Tyler; two great-grandchildren, Adalyn and Ava; and many wonderful cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers and is survived by two sisters, Maria and Renata, and a brother, Walter, and all their families and relatives in Italy and by grandson, Victor.
At this time, a gathering for funeral viewing is not permitted due to the highly contagious coronavirus pandemic. Davis Funeral Services in Monroe, North Carolina, has assisted for Ennio's return home to New Castle. R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory in New Castle will provide all other assistance. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery on Friday, April 3.
