In a few days, we will be celebrating the great feast of Christmas.
Please allow me to extend to all of you a very joyous and blessed Christmas with your family and friends. For your convenience, the Christmas Mass schedule is posted on today’s cover, as well as the schedule for the Solemnity of Mary, a holy day, on January 1, 2020.
My sincere gratitude to all of you who volunteer your time, talent and treasure in the service of Holy Spirit Parish. The beautiful decorations for Christmas, the beautiful music, and liturgies are only possible through your exceptional service. Thank you to all of our music ministers and choir members.
Thank you to our liturgical ministers and especially those who bring the blessed sacrament to the sick at home and those in nursing homes and the hospital. We are extremely grateful to Sr. Annie and Sr. Barbara who do so much and to all of our deacons and priests. We are also grateful to the parish staff who work very tirelessly, especially at this time of year, and to the maintenance staff who work so hard to keep our many facilities safe and clean no matter what the weather.
If you find the opportunity to say thank you to any of our amazing volunteers, staff and pastoral team, please do so. They do so much every day for all of us and ultimately out of love for God, not expecting any praise or recognition. But
we are all human beings and a little gratitude goes a long way in being Christlike to one another. Share a little Christmas cheer, joy and respect. Perhaps you will find a little Christmas surprise of your own!
Please consider helping someone you know with a ride to confession or Mass during these winter months. We have a number of elderly parishioners and I am certain our Divine Savior would be very appreciative of any kindness or thoughtfulness you could offer to his elderly children. St. Paul tells us that “charity covers a multitude of sins.” The kindness you show will pay great divine dividends in your own life today. Be a Christmas gift to someone this Christmas and you may discover how much of a divine gift that very person will be for you!
God love you,
SAVE THE DATE: On January 29, 2020 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, all of our parish volunteers and employees are invited to a Thank You Reception at St. Mary Parish Center. This is our Christmas gift to all of you for the gift you are to our parish! Please come and enjoy good food and each other’s company.
