On Saturday, October 17, at 9:00 am, Holy Spirit will have an Anointing Mass at St. Vitus Church. During the liturgy, the priests will anoint all parishioners desiring this sacrament at the Mass.
Anointing of the Sick is usually given to a baptized person who is sick or in danger of death due to old age as well as any who are expecting surgery or receiving chemical or radiation therapies. Those who are seriously ill or old, should receive the sacrament sooner than waiting until their condition gets worse. In that way, a person can experience the grace that comes with receiving the Sacrament. It unites the sick person to Christ’s sufferings, gives themstrength, courage and peace to help endure their suffering in a Christian way; and brings forgiveness of sins if the person is not able to receive the Sacrament of Confession. Before any hospitalization, it is also recommended that parishioners receive the sacrament.
