The Angel Tree Ministry provides Christmas to many children who are connected to many agencies in Lawrence County as well as seniors who are in nursing homes. We work with Human Services, Project hope, Catholic Charities, Head Start, LLCAP, Children’s Advocacy, People in Need, and the Salvation Army so that children involved with these services are able to receive Christmas gifts.
There are many nursing homes in Lawrence County, and many of the residents are parishioners of Holy Spirit Parish. Some of these individuals are alone, have no family or are just lonely. Through our Angel Tree Program we provide Christmas gifts to a number of the seniors in Jameson Care Center, The Haven, Avalon, Carriage House, Cedar Manor, Clen Moore, Edison Manor, the Grove of New Castle, the Grove of New Wilmington, quality of Life, Rhodes Estates, La Casa and Vista South.
The Angel Tree Volunteers are parishioners and the St. Vincent De Paul Society. Together, and through the generosity of our parishioners, we are able to provide Christmas for approximately 600 people. Our work is concentrated in the month of November and the beginning of December.

Our Angel Tree project traditionally collects Christmas gifts to enable adults and children in need to share in the joy we experience during Advent and Christmas. This year will be a little different: what isn’t, in 2020? Instead of picking an age and agency tag on a tree, to be in compliance with Covid-19 restrictions, we now asked everyone to choose tags from a basket. The baskets were marked Children or Nursing Homes/Assisted Living Facilities. Participants took the tag(s) on top of the pile selected. Angel Tree Volunteers signed out the tag(s) selected for each present.
Gifts were returned to the Adoration Chapel, St. Mary site (119 N. Beaver Street, New Castle, PA 16101) Sunday, November 29th: 9:00 am—10:30 am or Monday, November 30th: 4:00 pm—6:00 pm. Holy Spirit volunteers arranged to deliver the presents to the appropriate agencies. Gifts were stored across several rooms by their destinations. The The slide show below is a sampling of the gifts collected for Christmas 2020. God bless us everyone!

ANGEL TREE UPDATE 1-29-2021--THANK YOU
Dear Human Services Angel Tree Supporter,
We hope this letter finds you well and safe. Thanks to your extraordinary generosity we were able to provide approximately 125 children in our community with their Christmas wishes. All of them have had their lives touched by mental illness in some way and of course the Covid 19 virus. The year 2020 has been a struggle for everyone, however, we, the Blended Case Management department at Human Services Center worked very hard to bring some joy and normalcy to the children and families we serve. We could not have completed that huge task without your support. Please accept our humble gratitude for your help this year.
Thank you,
Alicia Craig and Amy Rispoli
